When Jesus tells us to abide in him, he’s using a very rich word. He’s painting a picture of union — of resting in him and dwelling with him in a picture of shared life. He’s also painting a picture of sanctification, because this shared life is a life with direction, one where he is maturing us and making us ever more like him. It’s a process that involves pruning, which can feel uncomfortable or even painful at times, but the purpose of pruning is always healthy flourishing and an abundance of life!
Our speaker this year will be Pastor Christian Simas from Reality Stockton. Come with us as we get out of the city in order to seek God and connect with one another. We will be gathering from all over Los Angeles to worship and spend time as family in Christ. Join us as we grow deeper in our love for God and for one another by learning together what it truly means to abide in Christ.

You will be lodging in cabins for this retreat. Each cabin contains bunk beds to accommodate twelve men, with a private bathroom and showers. Cabins will be assigned by community/region, so please tell us in your application what community group you’re part of or what region of LA you live in. The bunk beds have sleeping pads but no linens, so be sure to bring your own bedding (sheets, pillow, sleeping bag, etc.). We recommend a blanket or two in addition to a sleeping bag as the cabins are not equipped with heating. We also recommend earplugs, as you never know who the snorers might be.

Weather in the mountains during September is typically average 70s during the day and cold at night, so it’s best to bring clothing appropriate for both. A warm jacket would be a good idea, and if you get cold easily, maybe a sweater and hat too. You’ll also want to bring clothing suitable for hiking, sports, and any other activities you plan on.

The trip can take anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic. We advise you to plan ahead and check traffic conditions online before you leave.

Will there be any free time? If so, what is there for me to do?
There will be free time during the afternoon on Friday and Saturday for hanging out, sports, and other activities. No matter what you choose to do, we encourage you to be intentional and seek the Lord during your time.
