Covenant House, located just around the corner from where we gather on Sundays, is a non-profit agency whose mission is to reach out to youth experiencing homelessness and offer them dignity, hope, and opportunities to create new life stories. At Covenant House, young people find shelter from the streets and are provided with basic necessities such as a hot meal, a warm bed, a shower, and security as well as a full continuum of services such as medical care, substance abuse counseling, behavioral health treatment, educational services, employment training, and long-term transitional living.
We want to continue our partnership by again supporting Covenant House for Christmas–Reality LA has committed to ensuring that 100 Covenant House youth receive Christmas presents this year. This is a great opportunity to serve our city!
On November 17 and 24, you can sign up in the courtyard to participate. You’ll receive a card with a sample resident bio and a present to bring.
Then there will be a tent with collection bins in the courtyard on December 1 and 8 for you to drop off your gifts. (please make sure all presents are unwrapped).
If you’re not in a place to purchase anything right now, don’t worry! There are many other great ways to get involved, whether by delivering the presents, taking a tour and praying for Covenant House, or decorating the CHC campus for Christmas. If you are interested in helping in any of these ways, email our Local Missions Director, Charity McCloud, below.
