Discipleship Cohorts

Beginning JAN 25, APR 29, AND SEP 13 HELEN BERNSTEIN HS

What are Discipleship Cohorts?

Discipleship Cohorts are ten-week intensives that walk believers through twelve dynamics of renewal in the lives of followers of Jesus. These give us a road map for life with Christ and are a resource for how we can walk with others as they learn to follow Jesus. Our hope is that every member of Reality LA goes through Discipleship Cohorts at least once and will learn to use these resources as they follow the Great Commission and make disciples.

When will Discipleship Cohorts meet?

Winter Cohort: JAN 25 – MAR 29
Spring/Summer Cohort: APR 29 – JUL 5 (skipping May 10 and 24)
Fall Cohort: SEP 13 – NOV 15

All cohort sessions will meet 12-1:30PM Sundays (immediately after the 10AM gathering) in the Helen Bernstein High School cafeteria.

Will childcare or ASL interpretation be available?

Yes! ASL interpretation will be provided for the Spring/Summer Cohort and childcare will be provided during the Fall Cohort.

Must I commit to a full ten weeks?

We highly encourage you to commit to a full ten-week cohort if possible. This will give you the best opportunity to build healthy relationships with other believers as you learn about following Jesus together. However, each ten-week cohort breaks down into three smaller blocks:

Follow Jesus (four-week commitment)
Love One Another (three-week commitment)
Serve Los Angeles (three-week commitment)

If you’re unable to make it for ten consecutive weeks, we encourage you to complete the full ten weeks by signing up for different blocks throughout the year. These three blocks can be taken non-consecutively (though it’s not the ideal).

What does participation entail?

The week before each meeting, participants are asked to watch video content that correlates with the upcoming session (we also have audio-only and reader versions available if you’d prefer that over videos). Along with this content, participants will be given personal notebooks that offer reflection questions and spaces to journal as you take in the content.

When we meet on Sundays, we’ll start with a time of fellowship and light refreshments, a short devotional teaching by different leaders at Reality LA, followed by a time of discussion led by a Table Leader (on the first week, participants will be assigned to a table with around six other people with whom they’ll walk through the entirety of the cohort).
