Graham was born in Illinois and lived for a time in Texas, but spent most of his formative years in the Bay Area east of San Francisco. He grew up in a variety of church settings before majoring in theology at Grand Canyon University in California (a mere 224-mile stone’s throw from the actual Grand Canyon!).
He and his wife-to-be, Kelly, met working at a church in the Bay Area. They sang together, led youth group together, and talked about Jesus for a whole year before he finally had the courage to ask her out. Kelly had attended Reality LA for five years before moving back north, and after hearing for months about this church she loved in LA, Graham finally decided to see for himself—he podcasted his first Jeremy Treat teaching in 2014 and was hooked.
Later, when Graham and Kelly were dating long-distance, they would meet up at Reality LA as the halfway point between Phoenix and the Bay. They’d hang out here with friends, attend gatherings together, then go their separate ways until the next time, thinking to themselves, “If only we could make this our home one day…” And now they—and their two kids—have!
In the middle of singing a song about the gospel in his church on Easter Sunday, Jesus called him to drop everything he was pursuing in Los Angeles and follow him. Jesus was the answer to everything Graham’s heart longed for, so he did exactly that. He’s now led worship at over fifty different churches (don’t worry—he loves Reality LA the most!) and considers it a privilege and honor to shepherd the church through music.
Graham connects to God through an early-morning time of scripture, prayer, songwriting, and journaling or a wonderful meal with friends. And music, of course! Fasting has also been important for him ever since winning a Reality LA book giveaway on the subject in 2021. He hopes to continue a quiet life of discipleship, to teach his kids about Jesus, to one day stand up on a surfboard, and to realize his dream of becoming a “Graham-pa.” Franklin Lloyd Wright once said, “Tip the world over on its side and everything loose will land in Los Angeles,” and that’s what Graham loves about our city, this loose collection of everything imaginable—beauty and brutality, innovation and inspiration, sacrament and sacrilege, all bound together by a collective dream to find what we’re looking for (hint: it’s Jesus!).
