Tell us a little bit about who you are!
Our ministry focuses in rescuing distressed, sick, undernourished elderly men and women who are unhoused and facing the harsh elements of their community. They’re cared for by loving staff at the senior center, where they’re bathed, fed, and given medical and hygienic care and provision. The word of God is often more easily heard when their immediate needs are met, resonates with many of them because of the love receive.
How do you pursue God’s renewal of our world?
We love the elderly and care for them because God does: Isaiah 46:4 reminds us, “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” We also aim to provide respite, care, and refreshment for the local staff. This includes raising money multiple times a year to help meet daily needs and supporting long-term project work.
How can we support you and engage with your mission?
People from churches in our region visit Casa Hogar (the senior center) two to three times a year to spend time with the seniors, hear their stories, play games, share music, and seek joyful experiences. We would love for members of Reality LA to visit in person to see firsthand the love and care being given to all the residents.
How do you hope this partnership will shape our church?
We appreciate any and all monthly financial support! We hope that, through seeing the needs of the seniors, God will transform people’s hearts and put in them a desire to help and give back with their time, talents, and treasure.
How can we pray for you?
We’d love continued prayers that God will bring new people and groups to the Good Samaritan Senior Center with hearts to help and care for the elderly. Pray that we will find new churches to partner with which will support the Center financially and in special projects.
