JP is from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up in a Christian home, he was always around church and stories from the Bible. One summer at camp, he saw a performance of the Passion and the stories he’d listened to as a child finally clicked. In an electric, Spirit-led moment, he realized, “Jesus is a real person…not a story book hero, but a man who came to Earth and died for my sins—fully man and also fully God.” From that moment on, it became clear his life was going to be about serving others rather than himself.
In 2012, JP moved to Los Angeles and visited several churches in the city but Reality LA quickly became his favorite place to be on Sunday. He joined the media team and found joy in using the gifts God gave him while also getting to know the people serving alongside him and receiving God’s gift of community. This ultimately led to his involvement within community groups at Reality LA. He’s seen a lot of changes over the years, but one thing remains: God’s faithfulness to build up disciples in this city.
JP lives in the Valley with his beautiful wife Marly and works as an assistant camera operator, mostly on shows for The Food Network. His pastimes range from table-top games and home repair to 3D printing and pickleball.
