Chaundra was born in Opelousus, Louisiana, and raised in South Central LA. Sticking close to her roots, she attended Cal State Northridge for college and Pepperdine University for grad school. Raised by her Aunt Linda, who led her into relationship with Jesus at age eight, it was during these college years that she really began to wrestle with God and ask God some pretty difficult questions. As she did, she read the Old Testament, and it was through that experience that Chaundra came to realize Jesus was real and the one true God in a way she never had before.
She first connected with our church when she became part of a Northridge community group led by Reality LA pastor Nick Tortorici. As she learned more about God and delved deeper into the Scriptures her heart for others grew, which naturally led to serving the church in such capacities as a Gospel Care leader and deacon before joining staff as our Director of Care and Community (of course, she’s also an extrovert and just loves connecting with people).
It was while serving at Reality LA that Chaundra met her husband, Alex, and they have a daughter who just so happens to be the most beautiful girl in the world! Spending time with her family and studying theology are two of the main ways Chaundra connects with God and in the years to come she hopes to continue growing in motherhood and providing emotional, social, and spiritual support to the body of Christ. Her favorite things about Los Angeles are that there’s always something to do here and her fond childhood memories of growing up in LA (the 80s and 90s were an interesting time, y’all!).
