Mike and his wife are members of Wycliffe Bible Translators and part of a team that’s passionate about seeing the word of God brought to all people, whether they have a written language or not. Mike and his wife are living and working among a primarily oral people group, and to that end Mike is using his skills and education as an animator to bring the gospel to life in audiovisual format.

Ministry Goals

Mike and his team are currently working on animating the entire book of Matthew. They are looking for more animators and artists to join their team so that they can work more quickly to get the gospel into a language and medium that will resonate with the local audience.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for the recruitment of their animation team.
• Pray for clear direction and opportunities to love the people around them.
• Pray for the content they are creating to reach those who have not experienced the Gospel and for many to draw near to God through it!

In 2008, Sarah became a Christian through Cru’s ministry at UC Santa Barbara. She became deeply involved in campus ministry, first as a student and then as an intern, and during this time she became convinced that God was at work in students’ lives. Sarah was excited to see God working through evangelism conversations with students, as well as to watch Christian students grow in their faith each semester. When her two-year internship with Cru came to an end, she knew there was nothing she wanted more than to spend her time helping college students come to know Jesus. So, she decided to join the staff with Destino, a ministry of Cru that seeks to equip students in the Latino and Hispanic community to be leaders for God’s kingdom.

Ministry Goals

Sarah wants to see the girls she serves growing in their knowledge of the Bible, living Spirit-filled lives, and sharing their faith with family and peers. The broader goal of Destino is to share the gospel with students through evangelism and relationships.

Tell us a little bit about who you are!
We’re Jeff and Lauren Cardell and we desire to encourage and equip people to live out the gospel practically in every part of life, specifically within their work.

How you pursue God’s renewal of our world?
We serve alongside Credința la muncă, a Romanian faith and work initiative we helped establish to create space for conversations and resources around God’s view of work, to encourage others to see their work as part of God’s work, and to seek the common good in the contexts in which God has placed them. 

How can we support you and engage with your mission?
We love hearing and sharing stories between Reality LA and Romania about how God is at work in your work and lives. Prayer support is crucial!

How do you hope this partnership will shape our church?
We love to pray with and walk alongside people who are seeking to make disciples in their everyday lives and asking how to seek human flourishing through their work. We pray your church will be rooted in your community and see wherever you’re placed—in your workplace, in your neighborhood, and in your family or friends—as your sphere of influence to share Christ’s love and renewal.

How can we pray for you?
Please pray for the people of Romania: that more will come to know Christ and his sacrifice, and that those who believe will continue to grow in their relationship with the Lord. Pray for the church here to be fully rooted, centered, changed, and empowered by the gospel. Also, please pray for partnerships across church and denominational lines in order to see disciples who make disciples in Romania. We ask that God continues to grow the team and the work of Credința la muncă and that more people will see all fields of work as part of God’s work in Europe. And lastly: please pray for us! Our marriage and mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness as we seek to serve God from his strength and not our own.

After the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011, Brock worked with Samaritan’s Purse to provide disaster relief in Japan. As he finished his work there, he began to pray about where God would have him go next. While praying, fasting, and seeking wise counsel, he was drawn to the plight of South Sudan. He felt a growing compassion 
for the thousands of refugees living in makeshift camps after having been driven from their homes by war and famine. An opportunity opened up for Brock to work with Samaritan’s Purse in serving the people of Yida, South Sudan, where Brock started out managing food distribution for a large refugee camp. Soon after marrying Danielle in 2013, Brock was promoted to Country Director. Recently they moved to Uganda, where Brock is Country Director and works on developing local villages to become self-sustaining communities. They’ve also just had their first son, Akai.

Ministry Goals

Brock and Danielle want to lovingly support the local community and share the gospel with them. Brock hopes to care for his staff and build them up through daily devotions. He wants to lead his team by example, to serve as Jesus serves, and to lovingly challenge his team to grow in the knowledge of Christ.

In 1997, while living in New York City, Winni had a vision that led her to start a nonprofit organization in her home country of Ethiopia. Rainbow Humanitarian Caretaker Foundation has become a leading advocate and voice on the issue of homelessness in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, where Winni leads outreaches to young homeless women and children. In 2007 the Ethiopian government supplied the organization with a plot of land in the countryside of Debre Musa, where they have since built a school.

Ministry Goals

Winni hopes to start a dairy farm and vegetable garden in Debre Musa to benefit the surrounding community. She also wants to continue teaching at the school and sharing the gospel with the local community.

In the last three decades, the church in Iran has grown dramatically, as has the amount of persecution. Elam Ministries reaches out to the Christian church in this primarily-Muslim nation by training and sending church planters, translating and distributing Bibles, and producing Christian TV programs. Elam seeks to minister to the families of Christian martyrs and women in need, while also developing leaders to reach the Iranian people and beyond.

Child Hope International (CHI) is a Christian organization that ministers to orphans and widows in their distress by transitioning children from Haitian orphanages into loving families. 80% of children in orphanages have families who could care for them if they had the proper support. CHI works with orphanages, children, and families toward reconciliation and reunification. Their vision is to see no more “orphans” in Haiti!

World Impact is an organization that aims to renew communities through evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and a variety of outreach ministries. It has planted numerous churches in the city of LA by developing and equipping local leaders to reach their communities.

Hope Again is a transitional living facility which seeks to show God’s love to individuals trapped in poverty, crime, and substance abuse by helping them find economic, social, and spiritual wholeness.

Harambee Ministries seeks to rebuild urban neighborhoods by developing and equipping leaders from within local communities. For over twenty years, the Pasadena Harambee Center has served a specific twelve-block area by sharing the gospel and providing programs that serve youth and families.
