Church, we are a people set free! As stewards of the gospel, given power of the Holy Spirit to be his witnesses here in LA and to the ends of the Earth, we’re called to invite others into that same freedom. How do we then act out of our freedom? How do we use our hands to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God? In the midst of turmoil, confusion, and cultural splits over various forms of oppression in our city, how do we create lasting change so that people are set free and know a God that loves them?

Sometimes these issues are bigger than our ability to change them. In these times, we must fall to our knees, lift our hands, pray, and cry out to the Lord for mercy.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

Beginning Friday, August 31, at 6PM, RLA will host a 24-hour fast to seek God for freedom of the oppressed and healing of our city, culture, and land. During this time, we will pray together, worshiping God and interceding on behalf of our city. We will also hear testimonies of freedom from members of our church and community. We will be fasting from food and sleep, but we will have water, coffee, and tea available! After 24 hours, we will celebrate God’s mighty hand of victory in both the seen and the unseen by breaking bread together and sharing a meal Saturday at 6PM.

We are calling the entire church to fast and pray! There are many ways for us to participate in this together:

1. Join us for the full 24 hours of prayer, fasting, worship, and fellowship at Hope International Bible Fellowship, where we will also break the fast the next day. Please RSVP for the fast-breaking dinner so we can plan accordingly. All are welcome (kids too)!
2. Join us for a portion of that time but fast on your own, remaining in prayer for 24 hours.
3. Fast at home, remaining in prayer, then join us for the dinner (please RSVP for the fast-breaking dinner).
4. Fast at home and break the fast with loved ones.
