“Identity in Christ” by Jeremy Treat
Our goal is not to change or improve our identity, but to live into the fully renewed identity God has already given us by grace through Christ. Pastor Jeremy Treat continues our Discipleship Pathway sermon series with a sermon from Ephesians 4:17-24 about our identity in Christ.

Identity Theft: Reclaiming the Truth of our Identity in Christ, edited by Melissa Kruger
Who does the Bible tell us we are in Christ? From the wisdom and perspective of insightful authors including Jen Wilkin, Hannah Anderson, and Jen Pollock Michel, Identity Theft seeks to answer this question by exposing our false notions of identity, understanding the biblical truth of our identity in Christ, and reflecting on what it looks like to live in our new (and true) identity. In 10 chapters it covers everything from our identity as children of God to citizens of heaven. At the end of each chapter, study questions can facilitate group discussion as you consider this glorious truth with your friends.

Union with Christ: The Way to Know and Enjoy God by Rankin Wilbourne
If you are a Christian, the Bible says that Christ has united his life to yours, that you are now in Christ and Christ is in you. This almost unfathomable truth is the central theme of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Yet few Christians today experience or enjoy this reality. Union with Christ reveals the transformational power of this ancient doctrine while addressing the basic questions of the human heart: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I headed? How will I get there?

Example
“In Christ, I am…”
Our identity is no longer based on our performance but on God’s grace. God has made us a new person, so we are a new person. Ironically, it’s when we stop obsessing over ourselves and start looking to Christ that we discover who we truly are. We recommend reciting this list of things that Scripture says we are in Christ once a day for at least a week.
