The Church and Hollywood: A History
Sometimes it may seem that the only historical relationship the church has had with Hollywood has been one of contention. But in fact, the church has been mostly supportive of the arts, but with periods of caution. Join IKON and the Hollywood Prayer Network for a virtual evening presentation by Sister Nancy Usselmann offering a sweeping overview of the development of the church’s understanding of the entertainment industry and its growth in collaboration to support stories that uplift and transform the human person and society, followed by Q&A and the opportunity to connect with other attendees.
Sr Nancy is a Daughter of St Paul (#MediaNuns) and the Director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies in Culver City. She is a Media Literacy Education Specialist, theologian, film reviewer, speaker, writer and author of A Sacred Look: Becoming Cultural Mystics, a theology of popular culture.
