The gospel is at the heart of renewal in our city and Scripture is definite about God’s abundant love for the orphan. Many in our city work diligently and selflessly to provide love, care, and support for the divine image-bearers who are part of the foster care system in Los Angeles. One way our church has joined in God’s work is through Royal Family KIDS Camp (RFKC), an annual summer camp we host with the mission to share the joy and love of Jesus with children and caretakers who are or have been involved in the foster care system. The camp is tied to our yearlong mentorship program centered on cultivating healthy, encouraging, and positive relationships between our volunteers and campers throughout the year.

RFKC is a week-long overnight camp for campers aged 6-12 and includes zip lines, nerf battles, skits, incredible music, pool time, fresh-baked cookies, stories with “Grandma and Grandpa”, tea parties, chapel time, meal times with songs busting forth out of nowhere, a talent show, and so much more.

If this sounds like a substantial endeavor…it is. We need our church to participate in big ways for this to happen! Here are some ways you can get involved:

Volunteer

We need camp counselors, social workers, support staff, musicians, actors, nurses, and more. You don’t need specific skills or previous experience, you just need the Holy Spirit. To apply to be part of RFKC 2023, simply fill out the form below. Completing the application won’t commit you to anything but a sit-down interview with a camp leader. (Please note that the application is lengthy, so you’ll want to carve out some time to complete it, and we suggest using a computer rather than a phone.) Be mindful whether or not you can commit to the full week before completing the application.

Yes, being a part of RFKC takes a high level of commitment: those interested will need to fill out the application, interview with the camp leaders, fundraise, go through mandated training sessions, and be willing to commit to being at camp the full duration. But please don’t let the high level of commitment scare you off! You will be receiving a ton of support, training, and encouragement from the leaders and other volunteers.

Please consider supporting the kids and the camp financially. RFKC is completely self-funded so that no child has to pay dime to be there. Whether it’s giving $5 or paying for 5 kids to go to camp, everything helps. Sign Up a Camper

If you are a caretaker or social worker who would like to sign a prospective camper up for camp, the camper application will open in early April. To be added to our mailing list and to receive an email when the camper application opens, please email rfkc@realityla.com.
