Easter 2023
Because he lives
Our city is broken. Many of our lives are a mess. While we long for change and restoration, is there anything we can ground our hope in? Politics can’t do it. Technology alone is insufficient. Looking within falls short.
On Easter Sunday we celebrate the good news that there is hope because Christ is risen from the dead.
Because he lives, the broken can be made new.
Because he lives, the lonely can find community.
Because he lives, the oppressed can be set free.
Because he lives, there is hope.
Baptisms
We will hold baptisms at all Easter gatherings.
Baptism is a picture of God’s grace and a profession of our faith. Being lowered into and raised from the water is a picture of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-8; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21). It is a public testimony where we proclaim with our mouths and our hearts that Jesus is Lord.
If you’ve trusted in Christ but have never been baptized, then we invite you to join us for baptism as we celebrate together and worship Christ. You can learn more and register here:
There will also be a baptism class April 2 in the library immediately after our 10AM gathering (11:45AM) if you’d like to know more or ask any questions.
Volunteer
We also look forward to worshiping and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus together through serving him and our church! If you’re interested in helping our church feel like home for guests on Easter Sunday, we’d love to have you be part of our hospitality ministry. This includes Set Up, Tear Down, Usher, Baptism, and Parking teams.
Kids Ministry or Prayer Team more your vibe? Please e-mail kids@realityla.com or maggy.w@realityla.com, respectively. We can’t wait to share this experience with you.
Times and locations
Our Easter gatherings will take place at 8:30AM and 11AM at Helen Bernstein High School and at 5PM at the Hope Center. Click the links below for specific location and parking details:
We believe it’s important and beautiful to gather together in person as a family, but we of course realize that we live in a world where it’s not always possible. Joining us in spirit is no less precious to us—we will be livestreaming the 11AM gathering so our entire family can celebrate Jesus’ resurrection together!
ASL
ASL interpretation will be available at our 11AM gathering. Seating will be in the front right row of the auditorium and ushers will be available to answer any questions.
Kids, Preteen, and Youth
We look forward to celebrating the resurrection with the children of our church! But there will be a few changes to our typical Sunday rhythms on Easter Sunday:
Kids Ministry will only be available for nursery through 1st-grade children at the 8:30AM and 11AM gathering. The children will continue to check in at the Kids Ministry Welcome Area and will have a typical day of programming as any other Sunday. Kids Ministry will not be available at the 5PM gathering, but we will continue to have a Moms’ Room for those who would like to utilize it.
2nd through 4th-grade children will join their families in the main gathering. Easter is a wonderful time to integrate our older children into the rhythms of the church, as the sermon is shorter and designed to reach people from a wide variety of experiences and understandings. We will have sheets available for our older kids to grab before heading into the sermon that they can use to take notes, draw, and complete a couple other fun activities like crosswords or word searches.
All Preteen and Youth students will join us in our Sunday gathering as well and we’ll resume all customary Preteen and Youth gatherings the following week.
Please feel free to reach out to our Kids or Preteen and Youth teams with any questions ahead of time. We’re looking forward to seeing your family on Easter Sunday!
Pupusas and praise
If you’re planning to attend the 5PM, come a little early! At 4PM we’ll share delicious pupusas for a time of eating, talking, encouraging one another, and praising God together because he lives!
Good Friday
This year’s Good Friday gathering will take place in the Hope Center chapel. There is limited capacity so attendance requires registration, which you can do right here!
