Brian Ortize grew up as a pastor’s son in Spokane, Washington. The church shaped everything he did as a kid, but despite knowing all of the Sunday School answers, Brian didn’t see his true need for a savior until later in life.
Throughout high school and into his early 20s, Brian played in various bands and spent most of his time and energy trying to obtain rock star status. Though these were "Christian bands," the music became about Brian’s glory, not God’s. It was during this time of playing music and touring full time that Brian met his wife, Rachel.
Eventually, disillusioned and frustrated with the music scene, Brian gave up music altogether and some time later moved to Los Angeles. It was here, in the City of Angels, that God gave Brian a renewed passion for musical worship and called Brian into full-time ministry. Brian now recognizes music as a gift from God and a tool to help people worship their Savior.
Brian was eventually made an elder at Reality LA and now serves in music and discipleship. Brian, Rachel, their daughter Ellie, and son Cash now live in Hollywood.
